Photographer, Writer, & Environmental Advocate
Hi there! I'm Erin and I'm an adventure-seeker and world-traveling photographer and writer specializing in outdoor and adventure lifestyle photography, and environmentally sustainable branding. I capture photos of outdoor adventures, beautiful landscapes, and faraway places that each have a story to tell. I blend candid lifestyle photos with landscape-style photography and tell stories that capture human connection and interaction within the beauty of nature. I focus on environmental stewardship and sustainability, and work with individuals and brands that share my mission and values of protecting this beautiful planet that we call home, and the rights of the people who inhabit it.
In my down time, I can probably be found sitting around a campfire, barefoot on a beach, in the company of trees, or on a mountain top beneath a canopy of stars. I live for life on the open road, exploring new places, and sunrises and sunsets. I believe in the healing power of nature, and I want to inspire as many people as possible to connect with the natural world. I'm completely addicted to travel. I'll take sleeping in hostels, traveling by train, and eating street food over fancy hotels and restaurants any day. I love rock climbing, trail running, and I'm a certified scuba diver. I have two beautiful rescue animals - a crazy cat and and an adventure pup who accompanies me on hikes, camping trips, trail runs, and backpacking adventures. I love eating healthy, I'm obsessed with medicinal mushrooms, drink tea all day long, and love really good coffee, but I also enjoy craft beer and tacos. I'm an avid reader and I’ll talk all day about books. I believe in moving and breathing deeply, nurturing the mind, body + soul, and living in alignment with the heart. For me, that alignment is found with my camera in hand surrounded by nature.
MY PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY
I was obsessed with film photography all through high school (because digital wasn't really a thing yet...). I used my father's Pentax K1000 and went through many, many rolls of film - mostly black and white Ilford, but also a lot of Kodak Gold, Porta, and Ektar. With those vibrant film stocks began my affinity for bold colors, high contrast, and just the right amount of grain to make a photo seem real, gritty, and authentic. I was so proud when I saved up enough to buy my first DSLR - a second hand Nikon D90 and 35mm lens I found on eBay. That camera traveled all over the US and Asia with me. It went on countless road trips and several international trips. Photography truly became my passion. It became my outlet, and was always there for me through rough times. As an introvert, it was a way for me to share the beauty that I saw in the world. A way to tell a story about a moment in time. I took many self portraits (like this one, taken at the Falls of the Ohio in Southern Indiana) because often times, I was adventuring alone. I eventually began taking photos of friends, family, other adventurous, outdoorsy people, and weddings in addition to landscapes and travel photography. Photographing people has helped me to grow - to come out of my shell. I love to blend my passion for beautiful, breathtaking landscapes with candid photography that tells a story.
